How to re-collect yourself after a hectic day

An Evening Mindfulness Exercise

Sit in neutral position with feet flat on the floor in front of you, eyes open or closed. Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale.

Turn your attention to your thoughts. Notice any thoughts you are having or if you aren't having any — if your mind is blank. Try to just observe your thoughts like leaves floating down a stream. Don't pick up the leaves, just watch and be aware of them.

Continue to breathe.

Now bring your awareness to your emotions. Notice your emotions. Do not judge them nor try to change them in this moment. Only be aware of what you are feeling.

Lastly bring your awareness to sensations. Notice textures, temperature, pressure; feel your physical body in its space.

Now return to your breathing. Take a deep breath in and slowly release it.

Bring your attention back to the moment.
